Pakenham parkrun Event Number 142 - 3rd June 2017
Perfect running conditions today for 142nd Pakenham parkrun as we welcomed visitors from Phillip Island and Chelsea to give us 12 first timers to Pakenham. Lucky no one got lost…
This week we were very proud to Celebrate John Stewart’s 50th parkrun. This is something I know is very special to John as he is a proud member of the community and really embraces the spirit of parkrun.
This week we also Awarded Anthony (Tony) Barker the month of May parkrunner of the month. Tony is a true example of what parkrun is all about. He is always happy and encouraging. In the time Tony has been coming to parkrun he has achieved 14 Personal bests and shaved, more like slashed 12 minutes 13 seconds of his original time.
We also were very proud to present Thomas Soutter with the volunteer award for the month of May. Through May Thomas was tail walker on the day he achieved his 50th parkrun. What a great way to bring in the milestone. While Thomas is a reluctant runner he is a regular at parkrun, always with a smile and eager to catch up with his friends.
Always love seeing our participants having fun on the run here are a couple of the fun photos of the day
Don’t forget we have our pacer week on the 17th of June.
Our pacers for the day will run
20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34 and 36 minutes
Get yourself ready to join them as they will encourage you and help you get the time you are chasing.
It’s not a race but a run so let’s get going and have some fun
So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.
Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support.
PLEASE NOTE: All our photos of the event are uploaded to our facebook page - Pakenham parkrun.
