Pakenham parkrun Event Number 45 - 1st August 2015

The weather definitely did not look pleasing as I were setting up the course Saturday morning and I wondered whether people would in fact turn up or not. I must say that it did not look promising with nearly all our volunteers arriving and just 3 runners!

However, I had nothing to fear as the closer it got to 8am, the more cars that I saw. In the end we had 31 brave souls turn up with 6 of these being first timers. Way to go to the first timers, to still turning up on such an unpleasant morning!!

Half the runners made it back before the rain returned..

but some did not..

However, we all still had some fun!

Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.

Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
- we currently have vacancies for Timekeeper and Tailrunner this coming week. Please email us or comment via Facebook if you can assist.

Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!

We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.

Also, we have a post run coffee at Bunnings. Bunnings has a little cafe, toilets and play equipment for the little ones. We will be there every week until 10am, so feel free to pop by for a coffee and a chat.

Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY :-)

- MICHELLE
