Pakenham parkrun Event Number 48 - 22nd August 2015
The best day of the week is parkrunday. 75 runners/walkers and 8 volunteers were at our event soaking up the sunshine
With our 1st year anniversary fast approaching we are asking for anyone who may be able to help out with either providing a cake (design to be agreed) or face painting on the day to contact the friendly Run Directors or the Pakenham parkrun facebook page. Also don’t forget to start thinking about your costume for the day. A nice and easy theme dress as something that begins with the letter P
We would like to remind our pakrun patrons of a non-negotiable for all parkruns worldwide. All children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian whilst on the course. The responsible adult should be behind the child and within a few metres at all times (ie the child must be within sight and easily caught up to). This is for the safety of the children. There have been reports at parkrun events of situations that involved children and predatory adults (non parkrunners). So for the safety for all we respectfully ask you to ensure your child and all children are safe by having a responsible adult close by looking out for the children. Should you see any suspect behavior on the course please report this immediately to our run director for action. Sometimes this means that the children cannot go as fast as they would like but we are sure that they won’t mind getting out and having fun with the rest of the parkrunners.
Our volunteers are full of life, fun and unpaid for the positions they fill at parkrun. All roles are easy and can be loads of fun. Occasionally incidents occur that make us forget that our volunteers are donating their time and effort. Sometimes situations occur that raise our blood pressure and we get flustered and sometimes speak before we think. Please remember at all times to be respectful not only to the volunteers but also the other parkrunners and the community who share our course. If you have an issue or a question please contact your Event or Run Director to see if your issue can be resolved.
In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at:
www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Also, we have a post run coffee at Bunnings. Bunnings has a little cafe, toilets and play equipment for the little ones. We will be there every week until 10am, so feel free to pop by for a coffee and a chat.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
