Pakenham parkrun Event Number 55 - 10th October 2015
A lovely day for running today – pleasant and still - although a reported swooping magpie threatened to disrupt our run. Fortunately, the magpie was not interested in our parkrunners today. We had 5 first timers at todays event, which is fantastic!
It was also a special day in that we presented two awards – parkrunner of the Month and Volunteer of the Month for September. The parkrunner of the month award went to Jenny Coughlin – who participated in 4 events, achieved 3 PBs (wow!) and volunteered once in September.
Our volunteer of the month was awarded to Albin Hess. He has been a long term supporter and volunteer at Pakenham and we acknowledged that today.
Today we had 11 Personal Bests –
Ray Fulton took off 22s bringing his time down to 21:04
Adrian Hines took off 33s bringing his time to 21:24
Paul Bormanis took off 30s bringing his time to 22:39
Jackson Smulders took of a whole minute bringing his time to 24:42
Tim Pratt took off 22s bringing his time to 25:48
Kim Keysers took off 48s bringing her time to 27:39
Elise Sefton took off a solid 1m 6s off her time to 27:47
Seth Pratt took off 20s bringing his time to 29:43
Janine Buntrock took off 2m 24s bringing her time to 30:39
Tracy Brennan took off 23s bringing her time to 32:21
Reg James took off 56s bringing his time to 33:09
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible.
In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
