Pakenham parkrun Event Number 57 - 24th October 2015

We had a gorgeous morning greet us on Saturday with 80 people starting their weekend with a run and a chat with some amazing, encouraging people.

We had 10 first timers, which was fantastic to see. The weather is starting to look up, so we may see a few more over the coming weeks. Never be too shy to just say "Hi". We are quite a friendly community and love to support others on their quest to a healthier lifestyle (with a bit of fun along the way!).

It looks like the underpass magpie has now gone quiet, so I don't think we have to worry about him anymore, however, we do still need to be mindful of snakes over the coming months.

NEW YEAR'S DAY EXTRA RUN - 1ST JANUARY 2016

Each year all parkruns worldwide are allowed 2 extra runs - Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

We have decided to have 1 extra event this year (next year :-)), which will be on New Year's Day. This falls on a Friday and the event will begin at 8am, like any other parkrun day. We will then also have our regular parkrun the very next day on Saturday 2nd January, so if you have been indulgent over the Christmas period, you can run it off over 2 consecutive days!

If you would like to see which other parkruns will also be holding one of these events (or both), check out the following link: http://www.parkrun.com.au/christmas-compendium/

We will also be needing volunteers for this run, so if you can help out, please let us know or fill out the volunteer book which is on the BBQ every week.

******************************************************************************************************************************

Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.

Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster

Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!

We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.

Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY :-)
