Pakenham parkrun Event Number 61 - 28th November 2015
We were graced with a gorgeous morning where 86 runners, plus all our awesome volunteers turned up to start their weekend with a run, walk and some socialising. We had 9 first timers which included some parkrun tourists from a number of other parkruns, such as Frog Hollow parkrun, Berwick Springs parkrun, Riverway parkrun, Diamond Creek parkrun and Lillydale Lake parkrun. Thank you to everyone that attended and we hope you enjoyed your time.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.
Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS:
KIDS DAY: A couple of time a year, we let our parkrun kids take over the volunteer roles and show us how awesome they are. Our next 'Kids Day' is scheduled for 26th December (Boxing Day). All positions have now been filled! We are really looking forward to this one as these kids know what they are doing and do a magnificent job.
CHRISTMAS EVENT: The 19th December will be our Christmas Event. Feel free to dress up in your best festive outfit (or just a Santa Hat or Reindeer Antlers are fine!) and come celebrate with us.
NEW YEAR'S DAY RUN: We have sought, and been given, approval from the Council to hold an extra event on Friday 1st January 2016. We currently have the Run Director and Timekeeper roles filled, but we also need all other positions filled in order for the event to proceed.
