Pakenham parkrun Event Number 39 - 20th June 2015
This week we had an amazing turnout of runners attend parkrun, especially in such cold conditions.
As you can see even after warming up running 5km our parkrunners were still making fog breath!
As you can see the ground was wet, frosty and a little muddy.
A lot of our runners had committed to running events on Sunday so instead of running this week they volunteered, it was nice to see a full volunteer roster filled by the Pakenham Road Runners. We thank them for their time and hope they all had a wonderful run on Sunday and be the best that they can be.
We had a number of first timers this week some turned up on time and some late, we encouraged all of our runners and walkers to just get out there and give it a go and it was nice to see a couple of our late comers still manage to catch up to the middle of the field of runners. Thank you for attending Pakenham parkrun .
A couple of our parkrunners also showed us their dance moves whilst on course, no matter how you wish to complete parkrun under your own steam (as long as it is not on a bike or scooter) you are welcome to come along and show us your moves as well!
Next week we have a number of volunteers pacing for our End Of Financial Year parkrun. So if you have a time in mind from 20 minutes to 34 minutes and beyond. However if we cannot fill the roster with our usual volunteer requirements we may have to cancel the pacers until another week. So please feel free to contact us via email or facebook to help us fill these much needed roles.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at:
www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Also, we have a post run coffee at Bunnings. Bunnings has a little cafe, toilets and play equipment for the little ones. We will be there every week until 10am, so feel free to pop by for a coffee and a chat.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
