Pakenham parkrun Event Number 125 - 4th February 2017
Wow! A perfect day for runners – and we had 10 pacers available to put our runners through their pacers. And the people came! Our second highest turnout, 160 runners turned up for the occasion! Of those 160 runners it was nice to see we had a couple of first timers and tourists from Shepparton and Melbourne.
As a result of the pacers, we had 36 PBs – a fantastic result by any measure!
Hayden enjoyed his pacing so much (28 minute pacer) he was able to pull off this flawless jump!
Michael – our 30 minute pacer – attempting his jump!
Tracey was clearly having fun out there!
As was Judy bringing in Lauren to the finish.
It was nice also to see Jordan complete his first parkrun! Great job little man!
One other thing that was mentioned at the briefing that may have been missed was a little note about your home parkrun. If you started your parkrun journey at another parkrun and have made Pakenham your home – please make sure you update your profile to reflect Pakenham as your home parkrun. Should this not be done, any clubs you might join (Junior 10, 50 Club, 100 Club, 25 Volunteer, etc) won’t be picked up by the system to be presented by our team.
It was a hugely successful day and I cannot thank our standard volunteers and our pacers for making this parkrunday so enjoyable for all. That being said, so that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible.
In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at:
www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
PLEASE NOTE: All our photos of the event are uploaded to our facebook page - Pakenham parkrun
