Pakenham parkrun Event Number 58 - 7th November 2015

What a beautiful morning we had for our parkrun this week, as opposed to last week!

72 runners chose to start their weekend at the best parkrun in the world (just a bit bias!), with a run, jog or walk with other great people and fantastic company.

We had 12 first timers including a tourist from Sale, Sparky. Sparky was our first runner over the finish line, with our course being his best time to date. We love being a part of our runners achievements.

There were also 7 PB's achieved with 3 of them being from our parkrun kids! These girls were all from the same family, so well done and keep up your awesomeness!!

We also celebrated our October parkrunner of the month, which was Rebekah Lyness. Congratulations on your achievement and your continuous support of parkrun.

We at parkrun take our "Under 11 years of age policy" very seriously. We love seeing the enthusiasm from our parkrun kids at the start of the event, while running the course and especially when they have just run past those flags. The pure joy on their faces says it all - that "I DID IT!" look. We also appreciate that the parents are respecting this rule and are enjoying (most of the time..) completing the course with their kids - or when acting as the 'guardian' for another. Check out some of the great shots that were captured this week:

Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.

Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster

Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!

We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.

Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY :-)

NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS:

KIDS DAY: A couple of time a year, we let our parkrun kids take over the volunteer roles and show us how awesome they are. Our next 'Kids Day' is scheduled for 26th December (Boxing Day). A couple of the roles have already been filled, but if your child is interested, please either send us an email, or check out the roster (which is always on the BBQ) on any given parkrunday.

NEW YEAR'S DAY RUN: We have sought, and been given, approval from the Council to hold an extra event on Friday 1st January 2016. We currently have the Run Director filled, but we also need all other positions filled in order for the event to proceed.
