Pakenham parkrun Event Number 59 - 14th November 2015
We were greeted by a beautiful morning after a rainy night. We had a few newbies, which was fantastic and also a parkrun tourist, Alison all the way from England.
We have such lovely families that attend our parkrun and we are so appreciative that the Under 11 rule is being accepted, respected and embraced. We are all leading by example and the kids just love it!
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.
Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
We do like to have a bit of fun while we are waiting for you all to get back!
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS:
KIDS DAY: A couple of time a year, we let our parkrun kids take over the volunteer roles and show us how awesome they are. Our next 'Kids Day' is scheduled for 26th December (Boxing Day). A couple of the roles have already been filled, but if your child is interested, please either send us an email, or check out the roster (which is always on the BBQ) on any given parkrunday - this includes the Run Director role.
CHRISTMAS EVENT: The 19th December will be our Christmas Event. Feel free to dress up in your best festive outfit (or just a Santa Hat or Reindeer Antlers are fine!) and come celebrate with us.
NEW YEAR'S DAY RUN: We have sought, and been given, approval from the Council to hold an extra event on Friday 1st January 2016. We currently have the Run Director filled, but we also need all other positions filled in order for the event to proceed.
