Pakenham parkrun 69

Pakenham parkrun Event Number 69 - 16th January 2016

On Saturday, we had a record for “non-anniversary” parkruns – 107 in attendance! Only 6 more and we would have beaten our course record. We had the pleasure of hosting several tourists, mostly from our neighbours at Berwick Springs. It must have been the friendly people, beautiful course and the great weather that brought so many to Pakenham.

The Pakenham Road Runners members who are doing the “Run Down Under” virtual race around Australia posed for a group shot prior to the event starting. You should check it out! www.rundownunder.com.au/

It was the day before the Two Bays 28k and 56k event, and it was great to see several of the runners run today and at Two Bays! Kudos to Shane Wheeler, Andrew Harris, Nigel Fox – as well as our Two Bays runner volunteers – Michael Soutter, Albin Hess and Rob Centonza.

It was great to see 6 new local first timers! We hope to see them at our event or another parkrun soon!

Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible.

In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at:

Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!

We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.

Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY Image may be NSFW.
