Pakenham parkrun Event Number 70 - Australia Day Event
I think the word is getting out there that Pakenham parkrun is the place to be on a Saturday morning as we had a MASSIVE 112 parkrunners this week! Thanks to the 9 first timers which included tourists from Mount Barker parkrun, Warragul parkrun, Albert parkrun Melbourne and Rhodes parkrun. Spread the word of our awesomeness!!
We all love giving high 5s, including our marshals while taking photos...
We celebrated our December 2015 parkrunner of the month. Our Boxing Day event was totally run by our amazing parkrun kids and due to their dedication on the day (in the pouring rain) and their continuous support, it was their turn to be acknowledged.
Our parkrunner of the month was Rachel Mann, as well as being an awesome timekeeper at the above event, she has been continuously improving in her running and achieving some PB's along the way. Well done Rachel:
Our December 2015 Volunteer of the Month was awarded to Nathan Hilder who did a brilliant job at the same event by being our turnaround marshall. Thanks and congratulations Nathan as it is well deserved:
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.
Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
