Pakenham parkrun Event Number 81 - 9th April 2016
We have recently started having a great number of attendees each week, with 126 runners/walkers this week. We love that the community is embracing parkrun, the concept and all that it stands for.
We enjoy recognising our runners achievements through our monthly awards which also acknowledges our appreciation of their support.
Congratulations to our March recipients: Chelsea Mills - parkrunner of the Month
Brett Mills - Volunteer of the Month
There are quite a number of other parkruns who have weekly/monthly runner profiles on their page. Some people want to share their stories of how they became a parkrunner and what they get out of it etc. This also has the potential to bring us closer as a community and to know the runners/walkers around us a bit better. We would like to attach a runner profile to our weekly Run Report, so if you are interested in sharing, please complete the following questions, attach a photo of yourself at parkrun and email it to: pakenhamoffice@parkrun.com

One thing I love about parkrun is:
My most memorable parkrun moment was:
I will start it off:
Name: Michelle Peters
Age: 38
Home parkrun: Pakenham
Occupation: Admin
Number of runs: 19
PB: 41.43 - clearly, I am not a runner
Number of times volunteered: 94
Favourite volunteer role: Not that I get to do it very often, but I like the Barcode Scanning the most as you get to congratulate everyone on making it back and it also helps with learning people's names. Love to see their smiles on a job well done.....oh, and I also like Tailrunner for all the hi5's you get to give out along your travels!
I volunteer at parkrun because: I am not a runner, so don't mind helping out by volunteering, chatting and having a fun time in the process.
One thing I love about parkrun is: The inclusivity to all. We have fantastic people at our event who I believe are the friendliest people on the planet!!
My most memorable parkrun moment was: Our 1st Anniversary. Loved the theme, the day, the help, the love and the support. It was not expected, but the appreciation shown to me for bringing parkrun to Pakenham and getting through our first year was an absolute honour.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event.
Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
PLEASE NOTE: All our photos of the event are uploaded to our facebook page - Pakenham parkrun
