Pakenham parkrun Event Number 89 - 4th June 2016

On Saturday, we had very rainy conditions – but this did not stop 61 from attending our parkrun. It was our pleasure to host a seasoned parkrun Tourist from Cairns parkrun and 3 first timers.

We had a few presentations – firstly, volunteer of the month. Megan Humphrys was selected as our volunteer of the month for May. Despite recovering from injuries, Megan has attended our event to volunteer (twice in May) or simply just to cheer our runners on. Congratulations and thanks for your support Megan!

Charis Wall was selected as our parkrunner of the month for May. Charis has made amazing progress since she started at Pakenham parkrun in February this year. She has not been absent from one parkrun since she started! In May, she achieved 2 PBs and volunteered once! Congratulations Charis!

There were 6 PBs today –

Charis Wall (centre) took 26s off her previous PB! Pictured with Emilie Barkley & Emma Wilkinson

Kaylor Royakkers took 45s off his previous PB!

Georgia Oliver took 7s off her previous time!

Tracey Brennan took 50s off her previous PB!

Michelle Peters took 1m 15s off her previous PB! Massive!

Ralph Angst took 2m 38s off his previous time! Fantastic!

The new parkrun singlets are now available for purchase! These two lucky people both are wearing their branded singlets which arrived in the last few days – Pakenham on the left and Cairns on the right!

Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible.

In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at:

www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster

Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!

We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.

Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY :-)

PLEASE NOTE: All our photos of the event are uploaded to our facebook page - Pakenham parkrun
