Pakenham parkrun Event Number 110 - 29th October 2016
Weather was much better this week, cool but fine and no wind, a very enjoyable morning. As well as many regulars, it was great to have some tourists and first timers.
Whilst Emilie has run many times, it was first time for Bill. Nice first up time from our four legged friend!
There was a bit of nostalgia from one of our great volunteers Jack Mitchell who displayed a couple of photos of him finishing the 1981 and 1983 Melbourne Marathons. Looks like he was a pretty solid runner in his time.....and impressive tight shorts!! I guess it was the early eighties!
We also had PB’s, lots of support and encouragement for each other, plenty of laughter and lots of fun.
In all it was a great morning, a bit of exercise and mixing with our great community. Special thanks to Michelle and Anthony for their support on my first time as Run Director and for all the kind words and encouragement from everyone.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible. In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers.
If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at: www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
PLEASE NOTE: All our photos of the event are uploaded to our facebook page - Pakenham parkrun.
