Pakenham parkrun Event Number 73 - 13th February 2016
On Saturday, we had an excellent turnout - 108 in attendance! Of these 108, we had a couple of tourists from our neighbours at Berwick Springs as well as 12 first timers to parkrun!
While there were many PBs this week, Mary Jo Dobell achieved not only a new PB but the best photo of the day! We can clearly see why on Saturday you achieved your result!
The Pakenham parkrun cat came and visited our course. Unfortunately, she did not bring her barcode so she didn’t get a time. Please remember to always bring your barcode – this must be printed on something – keytag or paper – no mobile phones as our barcode scanner does not read these.
Cardinia Life generously provided us with a pile of free 14 day gym memberships to give people the opportunity to try their facilities. These were quickly snapped up. Thanks Cardinia Life!
During the run, our volunteers have 15 minutes of spare time while we wait for the first runner to come in. This week we read books from the Pakenham Road Runners Book Exchange – books for gold coin donation. The donation goes to Relay for Life – so take advantage of this great little scheme.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! So that everyone can have an opportunity to run, we ask that runners volunteer around 3 times a year. Volunteering provides enjoyment, satisfaction and allows people to give back to their community, and without volunteers, parkrun would not be possible.
In order for parkrun to run every week we need volunteers. If you would like to assist, you can email us at pakenhamhelpers@parkrun.com, fill in the roster at the shelter or talk to your Run Director at the event. Please check the future roster at:
www.parkrun.com.au/pakenham/futureroster
Due to insurance purposes, we require all our volunteers to also be registered with parkrun, so please ensure that you are registered so we can add you to the roster!
We would like to thank the Cardinia Shire Council and the Pakenham Racing Club for their support in getting us up and running.
Don't forget the lovely offer from Cardinia Life for all our members with a barcode (to be shown at reception) to obtain free access to their swimming pool and showers until 11am every Saturday indefinitely!! Please note: You just have to arrive by 11am, but can stay ALL DAY
PLEASE NOTE: All our photos of the event are uploaded to our facebook page - Pakenham parkrun
